No Ramen No Life

There are many ramen shops in Okayama, and I often go to ramen shops. So I would like to introduce some of the different types of ramen.      First, I will introduce general Hakata-style ramen. This refers to ramen with thin noodles and a pork bone-based soup, such as Zundo-ya and Koya near Okayama University. This type of ramen is often served at chain restaurants and is probably the ramen what you think.      Next, I will introduce Ie-style Ramen. This type of ramen, which originated in Yokohama, consists of medium-thick noodles, toppings of pork chashu pork and spinach, pork bone and soy sauce-based soup, and chicken oil. You can eat it at Kato Shoten near Okayama Station. Although it is a bit far from the university, I personally recommend Yamaoka-ya near Okayama Minami High School.      Finally, there is Jiro-style ramen. It is said to have originated in Meguro-ku, Tokyo. It is a ramen with thick noodles, a pile of be...

It's cold today.

It's getting colder these days. Hello, I am Shunsei Mukai. It has become colder and colder since the beginning of December, and it feels like winter is in full swing. To be honest, until November, it felt like an extension of summer, and it was rather hot during the daytime because of the clothes we were wearing. But since the beginning of December, the Japanese archipelago has been hit by cold air, and it has become very cold not only in the mornings and evenings, but also during the daytime. I am grateful to live at my parents' house, so I am very thankful that I have a bath and dinner ready when I wake up in the morning or when I go home. What is your favorite season? I like fall the best. Spring is the season of meeting, but it is also the season of parting, and I feel a little sad. Summer is so hot and winter is so cold in Japan. Fall is a good time for food and travel. But it is a very short period of time. It's going to get colder and colder from here on out, but let...

Black Friday

Hello, I am Shunharu Mukai. I would like to share with you some of my recent purchases. Recently there was a Black Friday sale on Amazon. Black Friday is the Friday after the fourth Thursday in November. This is from the United States in the 1960s. It has only recently become known in Japan and is said to have spread after AEON started a Black Friday sale in 2016. Many things are reduced in price during this sale, so it is a good chance to buy something you have been wanting. I wanted a desk and a monitor arm, so I bought them during this sale. They arrived quickly, so I assembled and used them. I am happy with the desk being wider, and the monitor arm is very convenient and impressive because it allows me to change the position of the monitor as I like. Thanks Black Friday. I am an Amazon Prime member. I think it was about 500 yen per month for the general public, but students can sign up for half of that. I think it's a very affordable subscription because packages are delivered ...

Test Week

This week is test week.I have some tests, Differential equations, mechanics, electromagnetics and German. I have only studied differential equations and electromagnetics yet. I heard that German is easy, but it's so pinchi because it's harder than I thought.       As I write this blog, today is a national vacation, so the university was closed. However, today I woke up around 11:00 a.m. and took a nap after eating lunch. I wasted my time. It's the worst. I told myself that I don't feel like studying when it's bright outside and it can't be helped, so I'm going to study in the afternoon.      Studying for the test reminds me of last year. Just a year ago, I was a student taking exams and had at least one test every month, so I studied hard. I have noticed that December is just around the corner. Time goes by so fast, doesn't it? A friend of mine will be taking the university entrance exam this year as a ronin student, and I sincerely...

Part-time job.

Today I would like to blog about my part-time job.  My first part-time job was at a pasta shop in my neighborhood, and I started working there in August, so I think I was later than most people around me. I live at home myself, so it was hard for me to start a part-time job.  At first, I worked in the kitchen as a kind of support for senior staff who were cooking. To be more accurate, I started to be responsible for cooking by myself. And at this time I realized that this restaurant was BLACK compared to other restaurants.   In the end, I had to quit that restaurant after three months. The pay was not enough for the work I did, and the shifts were crazy, but I made friends and had a lot of fun. I would like to go back as a customer someday.  If you have any recommendations for a part-time job, I'd be happy to hear them.  Thanks.

What Happened Today

It has gotten real cold in the last few days. Especially this morning, it was so cold that I could hardly get out of my futon. However, I can't stay cowering under the covers all the time. Because I have classes from the first period today. It takes me about 50 minutes to get to the university by bicycle, so it's really bad on days when I have to go to class from the first period. I managed to get to school, but I was very sleepy because I woke up so early. The classes were interesting, so the time passed quickly. After school, we went to a ramen restaurant near the university. It was the first time for me to go to this ramen restaurant and the ramen was very tasty. Let's do our best again tomorrow. Thank you.
